Business Performance Improvement


  • Introduction of a company-wide Lean Manufacturing training programme, securing over £2m worth of funded training in initial year. Improved efficiencies seen within the manufacturing process.
  • Improved Key Performance Indices (KPI’s) and a complete culture change within the    business. The programme & standard operating procedure initiatives subsequently rolled out to the rest of the group manufacturing sites 
  • No prior HR presence for c. 30 years at one business unit; implemented HR processes and people policies. Absence reduced from 12% to 4% with no formal disciplinary action taken 
  • Long Term sickness absence previously unmanaged and ranged from 5 months to 13 years. 10 people disengaged and 2 people returned to work 
  • Worked with site management teams to implement flexibility into their shift patterns to aid efficiencies during seasonal peaks and troughs, resulting in positive impact on bottom line 
  • Reduced reliance on agency labour and enabled client to realise positive results on labour costs

Employee Engagement


  • Roll out of Employee Engagement Survey at site. Assisted business to dissect results to enable management focus on areas that would have the greatest impact on business success
  • Implementation of innovative Works Councils to aid communication and employee engagement 
  • Implementation of inclusive intervention programmes at shop floor level to improve staff engagement in sustainable efficiency improvements
    Meaningful induction programmes implemented, assisting new employee integration into the business
  • Implementation of post-training projects to enable client facility to realise ROI and further engage trainees to bring learning/renewed focus back into the business

Business Projects


  • Full site re-evaluation of 'right to work' status of employees. Rolled out full numeracy & literacy evaluation of all employees at client site. Led review of all client group policies to ensure up to date, legally compliant and fit for purpose
  • Development and start-up of new manufacturing facility. Securement of £150k worth of funding for recruitment for new site 
  • Subsequent development and start-up of new manufacturing facility within an existing site. Legal compliance, HR processes up and running and skills set requirements met within timescales given
  • Full group management restructure project with 3 follow up restructures in timescales given with minimal disruption to the business

  • Union Recognition and De-recognition projects
  • Promotions Board process designed, implemented and embedded into 400 strong manufacturing site

HR Team Development and Added Value

  • HR Department developed from concept into eventual fully functional team, contributing to business focus and success
  • Group-wide business partner role, managing and developing a nationwide team of Generalists. Achieved C-change in Group business management perception of HR function and value added. Enabled effective cross functional respect, recognition and team working for the business

Business Legal Compliance 

  • Development of Group Wide HR Policy and Procedure and Company Handbook, ensuring Legal Compliance for the business, including Right to Work in UK and Ethical auditing processes 
  • Generation of compliance documentation to cover all employee relations scenarios 
  • Development of HR practices and processes to ensure business audit ready and able to comply with ever changing customer requirements 
  • Successful defence of group-wide Employment Tribunal cases minimising financial impact to the business and reducing any company reputational damage
